Chapter Twenty to Chapter Twenty-Five

Gus made Isaac and Hazel to make a euology for him, and he made them read him because he wanted to hear, what they would said in his funeral, so he called it a pre-funeral.

After that, I won´t say what happened because that would be a spoiler and ruin the grand finale, I just can say that there´s another meeting between Peter and Hazel, and he explain things that Hazel wanted to know, she discovered that Anna was in real life his death daughter; and there was a letter that Gus send to Peter asking him to make a eulogy for Hazel, and in that letter is where I had experience different emotions at the same time at the beggining I was laughing, but throw the letter I started crying and I couldn´t stop.


The book really touched, and I usually don´t cry about anything, but this book was different and I love it!

New Vocabulary:


  • Plateaued: Is like a certain leve l or period that you reach and you stay on it. For example: Deal with it! You can't go on, you are plateaued.
  • Grief: I first of all tought it was like pain, but then I searched and it is like frustrations, some troubles or annoyance. For example: The unknown death of my mom brought me so much grief.

Chapter Thirteen to Chapter Nineteen

After the strange visit to Peter without him answering Hazel's questions, they went to Anna's Frank house and they really had a good time, mostly because they kissed.

And in one day of their trip to Amsterdam they lost their virginity and even they had a good time finally Gus tells Hazel that he has a problem with the cancer, he is sick.

When they go back, the problems with Augustus increase, Hazel and he start watching each other daily and he seems really bad. One night he went out for a cigarette cause his parents throw his, and theres where he purked his G tube and he ended in the hospital.

He went out, now he has to be in the living room cause he can go downtrairs with the chair.

Then, Hazel go to his house and she meets his family and she realised that Gus can died anytime.

New vocabulary:


  • Hamartia: In the book she used the word, reafering to a tragedy, the word was use in ancient greek and or poetry. For example: Your life is a harmartia, just like Romeo and Juliet story.
  • Napped: Is when you sleep briefly, during the day, away your sleeping hours. For example: Yesterday in school I napped and the teacher had to wake me up.

Favorite quotes:

  • Well, technically this is not a quote, but I really liked the pyramid of needs (Maslow´s hierarchy of needs), in which it says what things you need, and once you are full of one level, you can advance to other.
  •  "Ignorance is bliss" by Hazel.

Chapter Eight to Chapter Twelve

Hazel went to the doctor but they don´t let her going to Amsterdam and she understands, she knows is the best for her health, but when she recive a mail from Peter´s assistant she discovered that they didn´t cancel the trip and they are going to Amsterdam.

When her mom, Gus and her were preapering to leave, Hazel saw his dad crying like it was the last time he was going to see her, and she feel bad about making his dad feel like that everyday.

During the trip, the relation between Gus and Hazel improve, in a level in which Augustus tells her, he is in love of her, she don´t want to hurt him, cause she know in her condition she can die anytime, so she just let got that comment, she didn´t knew what to answer.

When they arrive to Amterdam, the stay in a hotel 1 street away Peter´s house and neer a famous park.

When they arrrive to Amsterdam, in the night, Hazel and Gus, go out for dinner, in a fancy restaurant, that Peter "invited" them.

So, during the pass of the time of the date, Hazel noticed she really like him, and after listening to the real history of Caroline, that she had a tumor, Gus said I don´t heart I live with the heart broken because of you.

In the dinner the waitress said a very imortant thing about the book, that the person who invented champainge, when first he tasted, he reffer the drinks as the stars.

At the next da, Hazel and Gus go to visit Peter as they accorded, but he is really different as they expected cause he is too sarcastic and kind of rude, and even he don´t addmit it, he has an alcohol problem.

Chapter five to Chapter Seven

After the night of the broken trophies Gus and Hazel didn´t speak for a week, but during the dinner of one night she noticed that someone was calling her, it was Augustus. When she called back him, he told her that Peter Van Houten the author of her favorite book replied him an email, so she asked him his mail to tell him all the questions about the book she had.

After writing the email to Peter she called again Gus and there is where she finds out his ex – girlfriend also had cancer and she died just a short time ago, at the end of the conversation they agree that Okay was going to be their always (their word referring to forever).

Hazel visits Isaac and even he is fine no evidence of cancer, without his vision he feels bad also without Mon (his ex – girlfriend) so when he fall asleep she goes back to home.

When she checks her email she finds out Peter just answered her, telling her that he won´t answer her questions by mail, so he invited her to Amsterdam. She say it to her parents and they can´t afford it and she understand; also she tells it to Gus who recommended to use her “Wish” that is given to all children with disabilities, but she already used it for Disneyland.

Next day Augustus called her, because he was at her place, she was just arriving. Gus gave her some orange flowers, and everything in the picnic at the park were representative of Nederland, because he had a surprise; he was going to used his wish for going with her to Amsterdam.

When she tell her parents, they seem a worried about going with a stranger, so Hazel said “He´s not a stranger he´s my second best friend” because her first one was her mom, or that is what she said, their parents said they would call the Dr. Maria.

Hazel called Katelyn because she is feeling some attraction to Gus, so she just realized he really is hot.
After the call she searched for Caroline (the ex of Gus) and she noticed how much people miss her and she didn´t wanted to be a problem for Gus so she denied to herself she liked Gus.

In the night she started screaming because she was having a lot of headaches, she went to the clinic and she was feeling bad because as she supposed she had fluid in the lungs. After a week when she was out, she noticed Gus was there for her.

When she read the mail that Peter sent to Gus she decided to try going to Amsterdam.

Chapter one to Chapter four.

Hazel is a girl with cancer in the lungs; she is not depress cause she knows that someday she will die, but her mother thinks Hazel is depress because she reads one book (An Imperial Affliction) over and over again and she likes to stay at home, so her mom took her to a Support group for people with cancer.

Hazel really hates going to the group because she thinks it´s more depressing to be there, listening the stories. Patrick is the leader of the group and he used to have cancer and he got cure, so he created the group in “the heart of Jesus”.

One day in the group a new boy was staring at her, so she can´t believe it because he is hot and she doesn´t feel pretty. During the session Hazel figure out that Augustus (the name of the boy) is a friend of Isaac (the boy whom Hazel has more relation). At the end of the session Augustus starts flirting with Hazel and ask her out to his house to see a movie (V for Vendetta) and she accept.

At his house they start knowing better each other, telling their story, how was their life before knowing they had cancer and he give her a book from a video game  and she tell him about her favorite book AIA and she promise to call him when she finish to meet again.

Next day it´s Hazel birthday so she goes to the mall with Katelyn, she was a friend o Hazel at school and now she rarely see each other cause three years ago Hazel left school and she is in collage now at MCC.

Hazel doesn´t feel comfortable with people so she ask Katelyn to leave and she stay alone at the mall finishing the book Gus gave her. There is when she notice she prefers to be alone.
She call Gus to tell him she finished and ask him if he finished AIA and he hasn´t, so for watching each other he has to end the book.

Next day after school Hazel goes to the movies with her mom, and she enjoyed it, when they went home she called Gus cause he texted her he finished the book, so he invite her to his place.

When Hazel arrives she notice Isaac crying and he was sad because he just had broken with Monica his girlfriend, so he starts destroying the trophies that Gus didn´t like.
